There are many types of taxes in Japan. The major taxes that foreign nationals
must pay are as follows.
Each person's income earned during the period from January 1 to December
31 of the previous year is subject to taxation. This tax is to be paid
to the State.
How to pay
You must visit the Maebashi Tax Office and file a final income tax return
between February 16 and March 15 of the following year. However, if you
are employed, your Income Tax is usually automatically deducted from your
monthly salary, and the income tax adjustment is made by your employer
at the end of the year. In that case, you don't have to file a final tax
return.
