There are two types of gas supply: City Gas and Propane Gas (LPG
- liquid petroleum gas). Since it is dangerous to use a gas appliance that
is not suited for the gas supply, please be sure to check that your gas
appliance can be used at your home before buying it.
◆ How to use
The gas line must be opened by a professional. When you move into
your new accommodation, contact the nearest branch of Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd.
if you use City Gas, or the other company supplying LPG to your house.
They will open the gas lines for you. |
◆ Billing
Gas meters are read monthly. Notice slips indicating the amount of gas used will be left in your mailbox. The bill will arrive soon afterwards. |
◆ Payment
You can pay the gas bill with the following two methods.
1. |
Automatic Bank Withdrawal (application form available from the gas company
office). |
2. |
In cash at any designated financial institution (bring the bill notice). |
|
◆ Important notes
1. |
When using gas, make sure your room is well ventilated. |
2. |
Turn off the gas before leaving the house or going to sleep. |
3. |
Do not leave the water heater on for more than a few hours, as it may start a fire. |
4. |
If a gas leak occurs, turn off the power and call the gas company immediately. |
5. |
If there is an earthquake, turn off all gas appliances and close the main
gas valve firmly. |
